Frequently Asked Questions:

» What's the difference between a Shift Kit® and a Reprogramming Kit™ ?

TransGo Shift Kit® branded products are designed to reduce/prevent/correct complaints such as "shift irregularities or durability issues". Shift Kit's® are perfect for normal use or towing. Shift Kit's® do NOT produce performance type shifts.

TransGo Reprogramming Kit™ branded products are designed with performance in mind and most but not all models contain additional features like Gear Command that allows you to hold manual low to any speed and shift back to low at any speed. Great for strip cars or 4x4 rock crawlers needing to select low and not have it up-shift. Most Reprogramming Kit™ products can be tuned for HD (Heavy Duty) use by following the recommendations in the kit.

If you desire full manual control, we offer Stick Shift versions for most models that provide no automatic up-shifts, in a forward pattern only, available under the Reprogramming Kit™ brand.

So if your looking to retain shift comfort but want added durability use the Shift Kit® branded products. For performance shifts without sacrificing durability use our Reprogramming Kit™ branded products.

NOTE: Shift feel also depends on many factors such as vehicle weight, tire diameter, differential ratio, engine torque, and converter stall speed.

» How and where can I buy TransGo® Kits/Parts ?

The USA and International "Distributor Links" is a listing of TransGo's licensed distributors, including commercial, wholesale and retail. NOTE: TransGo kits/parts may be sold by many other sources such as local transmission/automotive shops, regional parts outlets, and websites etc.. If you need assistance purchasing our parts, give us a call at 626-443-7451.

NOTE:
Many of the USA as well as International distributors have a global presence with offices/warehouses in various local and international markets. Please consult with individual distributors websites etc. for specific locations.

A Professional Automotive facility
generally would purchase kits/parts from a commercial/wholesale distributor and an individual "working on your own vehicle" would purchase kits/parts from a retail distributor.

If you are an individual "with your own vehicle" that has decided to recruit a professional facility to install our kits/parts, TransGo recommends that you allow the shop/installation facility to purchase the kits/parts.
